Lu Caiwen mourns for the soldiers dead during the battle againstJapan's invasion in Tengchong, southwest China's Yunnan Province, July 21, 2015. Standing in the Guoshang Graveyard in Tengchong County of Yunnan Province, Lu Caiwen, a 90-year-old veteran, raised his right hand slowly to pay tribute to his comrades-in-arms who died in fighting in the battlefield in western Yunnan Province 70 years ago. Lu was an intelligence information collector, a high-risk work during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggressions. "I participated in China's anti-Japanese war and defended my homeland", said Lu Caiwen with a proud expression on his face. After the victory of the anti-Japanese war, the main battlefield of World War II in Far East, Lu retired from active military service and started his studying at home. He became a teacher after the founding of the People's Republic of China. In 1987, Lu retired from Beihai Middle School in Tengchong. Nowadays, Lu is interested in Chinese calligraphy. As a voluntary teacher, he usually teaches local students to write calligraphy and tells them his stories during the war. Lu's family has four generations living under one roof.
